Some Much Needed Alone Time

John and I were lucky today that my parents were available to babysit Judith.  We got some gift cards to Applebee's (from my parents - thanks, mom and dad!), and I suggested we take an afternoon or evening to get away from everything and spend some time with each other.  So we took a few hours this afternoon to do some shopping and grabbed a late lunch/early dinner.  It felt nice to get away, but at the same time my anxiety was flaring up a bit and I was worried about Judith.

It's not that I don't trust my parents - I really do, and they know what they need to do to care for her.  I'm so accustomed to being with Judith 24/7, and it's very hard for me to let go enough to enjoy the rare moments I do get that are toddler-free.  Even when I'm working, I call at least once a day to check in.

I really need to learn to relax...

  1. I was on The Bump today when I saw you were a supporter of Great Strides which lead me to your blog. I just wanted to say I am sorry your Judith has CF, but thought I should introduce myself.

I am 28 years old, married, and pregnant with my first baby (girl) due this June. I also have Cystic Fibrosis. I have 2 copies of Delta F508 so I am a pretty typical CFer. I have a blog about my pregnancy which has allowed me to "meet" many cysters (female CFers) who are trying to start families or have families themselves. I just thought it might be nice as a mom to know that although CF can seem scary there are so many of us out there making our dreams come true and living healthy lives that may be a little different than the average person (enzymes, treatments, tune ups), but no less wonderful!

Set your goals high for Judith because I am sure she will surpass them!

  2. Thank you so much for reading and sharing your words of encouragement! It definitely gives me lots of hope to hear others with CF talk about living healthy lives and all!
